This estate, designed by Booth Hansen Associates, sits adjacent to a traditional Scottish-links style, 18-hole golf course which features native grasses and areas of mature trees. With the links style in mind, Hoerr Schaudt created gently-rolling mounds of earth seeded with swaths of rough fescues and native little blue stem in the areas of the property nearest the course. New curvilinear entry drives offer views of the property and lead visitors to a gravel parking court. The drives, along with walking paths, are mown between the hills in a style reminiscent of fairways through the rough. Hoerr Schaudt carefully planned for spectacular landscape views from inside the house as well as out. Interior courtyard gardens are visible from three enclosing wings, each offering a different experience. This project received national attention in a 2000 Metropolitan Home article and won a Merit Award from the American Society of Landscape Architecture Illinois Chapter in 2004.
