An addition to this Victorian home, situated in the city’s Historic District, prompted the renovation of this garden devastated by construction traffic. Inspired by the client’s enthusiasm for horticulture, Hoerr Schaudt designed a series of terraces connected by a ribbon of green, utilizing every inch of garden space available in this small suburban garden. An open children’s play area was created, as well as terrace spaces for dining and relaxing situated to the rear of the property, permitting beautifully framed views back toward the house. An abundance of old-fashioned perennials, climbing roses, ornamental grasses, and herbs satisfies the client’s garden cravings and provides a delightful space for a growing family.
