Uptown Normal Wins Smart Growth Achievement Award from U.S. EPA
We are very pleased to announce that our firm’s project, Uptown Normal Circle, has been recognized by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency with a Smart Growth Achievement award, which identifies the Uptown Normal project as a national model for urban development that respects the environment, fosters economic vitality, and enhances the quality of life. The project was awarded in the Civic Places category, which commends projects that create well-designed and vibrant public spaces. As part of the award, the EPA developed a great video about the project.

Last month, Normal received another kind of award when citizens of Normal put in so many votes to a crowdsource poll by Planetizen and Project for Public Spaces that it was nominated as the number one public space in the U.S. and Canada. We were as surprised as anyone else by the honor, but not at all by the passion of Normal’s citizens and leadership. Go Normal!
