Kara’s interest in landscape architecture began when she realized the profession’s influence on the spaces she used daily—as an avid softball player, she knew how important athletic field complexes are as revenue sources and spaces for building community. After shadowing a landscape architect who designed athletic field complexes, Kara decided to pursue a profession that would allow her to design and interact with the athletic spaces she loves.
Kara grew up in Grant, Michigan, and received her Bachelor of Landscape Architecture from Michigan State University. Although she’ll always be a Tigers fan, she loves to catch a game at Wrigley Field. Kara is a proud member of Big Brothers Big Sisters of Chicago, and she and her “little sister” have explored and traveled all over Chicago.
