Matthew is committed to implementing spatial designs that promote inclusion, stewardship, and dialogue in their communities. Throughout his childhood in the rural Midwest, he noticed a lack of variation and investment in public spaces—this inspired his devotion to ecologically resilient and socially equitable site design. His work aims to start a more dynamic conversation between designers and community members to achieve successful and welcoming public spaces.
Matthew is a graduate of Harvard Graduate School of Design where he received his master’s degree with honors in Landscape Architecture. He received his Bachelor of Design and Bachelor of Landscape Architecture degrees from the University of Nebraska – Lincoln. Matthew recently returned to the Midwest after living in Boston for over five years, and he’s excited to inspire, influence, and inform work in the region he cares so deeply about. Matthew enjoys art and drawing with charcoal and graphite, and he loves being outside and staying active. He and his fiancé have also taken on restoring their recently purchased 1909 home near downtown Kansas City.
