Together, we all have one common passion in mind: to create gardens that delight.

Who We Are

Hoerr Schaudt is a team of landscape architects, urban designers, and horticulturists who create innovative landscapes that delight on every scale — from intimate private gardens to vast public parks. Our devotion to craft and attention to detail help clients discover the unseen potential of their outdoor spaces.

We regularly collaborate with top architecture firms on urban public spaces, institutional campuses, private residences, commercial developments, and recreational destinations. We complement a solid foundation in design with innovative horticulture and particular attention to seasonality. Our work is recognized frequently through press coverage, award recognition, requests for our designers to share their knowledge, and—most importantly—by the people who use and are inspired by the spaces we have created.

We are a mid-size and mighty group of 70+ people. Large enough to take on transformative, complex projects with the attention to detail and responsiveness of a close-knit team. We are proud to have leadership and an overall firm that includes 46% women and 54% men. And we're made up of people from 25+ states across the country and 8+ countries around the globe, including Canada, China, France, Georgia, India, Iran, Mexico, and the United Kingdom.

Where We Work

Our Chicago headquarters is near the bustling Fulton Market neighborhood at 1555 W Fulton Street. We love that we’re located in a spot that’s a short walk to cafes, restaurants, shops, parks, and public transportation—there’s no shortage of places to explore! We’re located near Union Park, which offers the perfect green space to enjoy lunch and unwind during the day. Nearby public transportation options include the CTA station at Ashland Street and bus lines on many streets surrounding the office.

In the heart of the Crossroads Art District at 1901 W Baltimore Avenue, our Kansas City studio is surrounded by like-minded creatives, one-of-a-kind restaurants, and locally focused shops. On warm weather days, our building’s rooftop terrace becomes the perfect spot for lunches and happy hours, offering a stunning cityscape view. Conveniently located just one block from the KC Streetcar, and within walking distance to RideKC bus stops, we also have easy access to all major highways connecting us across the Kansas City metro.
