The Buckhead Business Association commended Hoerr Schaudt and Oliver McMillan on January 22 with a beautification award for the design and execution of Buckhead Atlanta’s streetscape.

Douglas Hoerr, the principal designer for the project’s landscape design, said: “We believe streetscapes are a vibrant part of the public realm. Creating a richly-textured street environment is one way we seek to connect people with the land.” Michael Skowlund, project manager, commented, “Oliver McMillan knew from the start that good streetscape design was an important way to make Buckhead distinctive. Mature trees, bold plantings, and variety in materials are important elements in making Buckhead unique.”

We thank the BBA for recognizing the impact of good streetscape design on urban life.

This is the second design award for Buckhead. It was given the Project of the Year award in 2014 by the Urban Land Institute Atlanta Chapter for urban design. See earlier posts for more images, video, and information about the project.
