On June 27, 2019, Lovett Commercial officially revealed its plans for the 550,000 square foot redevelopment of the historic Barbara Jordan Post Office in downtown Houston. Rather than razing the site, the civic landmark will be transformed into a mixed-use development. Future amenities include a concert venue, retail and and co-working spaces, restaurants and bars, an international market hall, and one of the world’s largest rooftop parks and farms called “Skylawn.”

The future site of Skylawn spans five acres with a rooftop park and sustainable organic farm designed by Hoerr Schaudt. Along with 360 degree views of the city, the rooftop will include dining and event venues—including a stage for outdoor performances—as well as recreation spaces. Skylawn will also implement a rooftop farm, which will provide the restaurants and markets in the building with “rooftop-to-table” produce.

POST Houston is an exciting collaboration between Lovett Commercial, architecture firms OMA and Powers Brown Architecture, and Hoerr Schaudt.
