In collaboration with Perkins + Will, Hoerr Schaudt designed the landscape for the new Segal Visitors Center at Northwestern University. Situated north of Clark Street Beach, the Segal Visitors Center forms a key new gateway at the south end of campus. The building program includes a welcome center, auditorium and 400-car parking garage. One-acre of native dune plantings and undulating topography seamlessly integrate the building with the lakeshore environment. Sweeping views to the lake are maintained and enhanced through planting. Together with the Sailing Center and Bienen School of Music landscape projects also by Hoerr Schaudt, a cohesive campus landscape expression unifies the south campus lakeshore district.
