Our plan for this expansive north Michigan summer house knits together two very different sensibilities: the restrained aesthetic of Asian design, and the wild abundance of the state’s native landscape. Balancing control and chaos, we shaped multiple quiet zones from which to enjoy the colorful riot of Michigan’s natural environs, interspersing reflecting pools and fountains that draw a connecting thread of serenity through the entire experience.
